George Strait shared a tribute as he mourned a longtime friend and road manager of nearly five decades.
Tom Foote âsuddenly passed away at his home after our rehearsal,â where he seemed âgreatâ spending most of the afternoon with Strait and his band, Strait said as he posted a photo with Foote on his social media pages on Tuesday evening (April 30). The beloved music legend remembered Foote as âour one-time drummer and long-time road manager for around 48 years.â He wrote in his tribute:
âWe lost another one of our good friends and a huge part of our musical journey yesterday. Tom Foote, our one-time drummer and long-time road manager for around 48 years, suddenly passed away at his home after our rehearsal. The band and I were with him most of the afternoon and he was great. Just doing what he loved to do which was making sure we were taken care of. 2024 is taking its toll on the Ace in the Hole group. Weâre all heartbroken to say the least. Rest in peace brother Tom. You will be hugely missed. Iâll see you down the road amigo. -gsâ
Earlier this year, Strait mourned two âmusic family membersâ who died hours apart. On March 20, Strait paid tribute to his manager of about 45 years, Erv Woolsey, who died that morning following complications from a surgery. Shortly after that, Strait remembered Ace In The Hole band member Gene Elders. Strait said at that time, âall of our prayers go out to both families.â
